Join PPC’s Design & Innovation Community for insights and inspiration from guest speaker, Matt McLelland, VP of Sustainability and Innovation at Covenant Logistics.

Innovation might be one of the most overused business buzzwords, but we can all agree that, when put into practice, it can foster significant positive change. In this engaging session, Matt will establish a common definition for the word innovation, talk about how it exploded during the COVID-19 crisis, argue that it doesn’t always have to be difficult, and dive into the importance of looking at problems from a different perspective.

About the Event

We’ll kick off with a high-energy, inspirational presentation from Matt followed by a compelling roundtable and Q&A session. Senior designers from Graphic Packaging International, Southern Champion Tray, and WestRock will join the virtual stage for conversation with our speaker.

The event will close with rapid breakout-room conversations to deepen connections among attendees. Guests of this event will be invited to an exclusive networking opportunity in August.

Who Should Attend

  • Graphic and structural designers at any career stage
  • Those involved in process efficiencies and continuous improvement
  • University students in design, packaging, and innovation
  • Salespeople and others who want to learn more about design and innovation in paperboard packaging

About the Speaker

Matt McLelland

VP of Sustainability and Innovation

Covenant Logistics

For the first 15 years of his professional career, Matt solely focused on technology, working for large Silicon Valley software companies, startups, and even a brief stint with a family foundation. In early 2000, he entered the logistics and supply chain vertical market where he developed solutions for trucking, warehousing, and other areas to increase supply chain efficiency.

In mid-2015 his employer asked a small internal team to start one of the supply chain industry’s first “Innovation Labs,” loosely structured groups with the single purpose of researching and testing new, early-stage technologies that had the potential to make significant positive impacts on their existing customer base. Matt and his team looked at everything from inventory counting drone aircrafts to highly automated warehouse solutions and virtual reality.

In his current role with Covenant Solutions, Matt works with senior leadership to research and evaluate current solutions and future trends in providing more affordable, safer, and cleaner delivery of products to customers. His recent work has also focused around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental/Social Governance (ESG) as many supply chain companies are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprints.

When not at work, Matt spends most of his time outdoors and traveling with his family in their DIY converted 2017 Sprinter Van, which transports both the family and their gear to their next adventure outdoor activity.
