SUMMARY:Webinar: Unboxing Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:Unboxing Inclusion: Elevating Accessibility in Packaging Design\nThe Paperboard Packaging Council is proud to present this webinar on accessibility in packaging with Victoria Watts\, Founder of VictoriaLand Beauty and Innovator & Disability Rights Activist at The CyR.U.S. System. \nVictoria started VictoriaLand in a quest to solve her own personal skincare needs that weren’t being met by the market\, but those concerns quickly took a backseat when her son Cyrus was born with a rare hereditary disorder that affects the retina with symptoms that can include vision loss or blindness. Since then\, Victoria became determined to offer the visually impaired the same ability to experience and enjoy beauty as her sighted friends. \nShe started to experience the world through her son and realized this world could be a more inclusive place for the visually impaired. People who are visually impaired crave independence just like everyone else\, and with today’s technology and resources\, it should be a standard practice that products are packaged in a way that makes them accessible for all. \nWe’re excited for PPC members to have the chance to meet Victoria. We encourage everyone to attend this one-hour webinar and hear her perspective on modern accessible packaging.

SUMMARY:TICCIT in 2022 Virtual Information Session
DESCRIPTION:It’s fun and easy to host a TICCIT program in your community.\nSpring is a special season for us in the paperboard packaging industry. Celebrate Earth Day by hosting a TICCIT program in your community. Short for “Trees Into Cartons\, Cartons Into Trees\,” TICCIT teaches students that trees are a sustainable crop just like fruits and veggies\, highlights the many uses for trees and paper\, and underscores the importance of recycling. \nThe program helps teach the next generation about the importance of packaging\, trees\, recycling\, and the circular economy. After a live or virtual presentation in the classroom\, you’ll send students home with a tree sapling in a paperboard carton which can be planted directly into the ground. The carton is a real-life look at sustainability\, as the tree grows the carton breaks down or biodegrades to complete the “trees into cartons\, cartons into trees” life cycle or TICCIT as we like to call it. \nJoin us for this virtual information session to learn how to TICCIT in your community this spring. During this webinar you’ll learn: \n\nWhat is TICCIT\nTips to engage TICCIT Ambassadors in your organization\nIn-person and hybrid tools to TICCIT\n\nLearn more and access free program materials at ticcit.info \n \nWhy TICCIT\n\nTeam building: engage your employees with this fun and interactive program!\nCommunity outreach: build meaningful connections within your network!\nRecruitment support: leverage the program to help attract new talent!\nDifference-making: inspire young minds and help spread our industry’s sustainability story!\n\n

SUMMARY:Virtual Event: Transform Business With Design Thinking
DESCRIPTION:1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET\nPPC’s Design & Innovation Community proudly presents virtual programming to help designers stay on the cutting edge of innovation and explore the role of design within paperboard packaging.  \nIn this hour-long discussion and networking event\, Bruce Claxton\, a Fellow of the Industrial Designers Society of America\, Innovation Design Strategist\, and professor at The Savannah College of Art and Design for the Design Management Graduate Program\, will discuss ways businesses can transform with new kinds of thinking. Claxton will address why design approaches and creative thinking are of value to industries\, and how the riskiest thing might be doing nothing to adapt or change your business. Claxton will also discuss the shift of commodity design approaches to a more strategic value that design can provide for the industry. Claxton will review several success stories from Motorola Solutions and conceptualize what the mindset is of a successful designer. Ultimately\, Claxton will lead a lively discussion and provide ways in which attendees can reduce risk with innovation.

SUMMARY:Supply Chain Disruption Update
DESCRIPTION:  \nWhat has caused the current paperboard shortage? More importantly\, when will it be over? \nThe pandemic and other market forces have caused disruption in supply chain production\, and it’s nearly impossible to plan ahead. How did it happen\, is there a light at the end of the tunnel\, and if so\, when will that be? We’ll discuss this and more with Mark Wilde\, Ph.D. from BMO Capital Markets. \nMark Wilde’s presentation will focus on the elements behind some of the tightest supply/demand conditions in over two decades. He will discuss key demand drivers as well as changes on the supply side of the industry. Finally\, Mark will provide some thoughts on what lies ahead for the boxboard and carton markets. A Q&A session will follow the formal presentation.
